The upcoming Sonic adventure is rapidly approaching
March 2027 is when Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled to be released.
Variety reports that Paramount plans to release the next Sonic film on March 19, 2027, which means it will be two years before we see the blue blur again. Beyond the release date, no additional information about the upcoming Sonic film has been disclosed.
Given that Sonic the Hedehog 3 made $218 million at the domestic box office and over $420 million worldwide, this seems like a no-brainer. With the first Sonic movie earning a healthy $148 million, it is now officially the highest-grossing Sonic movie in the franchise. Particularly considering the controversy surrounding the original Sonic design, which underwent significant post-production changes.
The fact that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the second highest-grossing video is another accolade.
The rivalry between Nintendo and Sega is being continued on the big screen with the second-best game movie of all time in North America, after the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie with steady growth over the years, the live-action Sonic franchise now consists of three feature films and a spinoff of the Knuckles streaming TV series.
The movies, which are based on the popular Sega video game series, follow Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) as he defeats Jim Carrey’s antagonist Dr. Robotnik. More members of the Sonic cast, such as Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (Idris Elba), have been introduced in each new movie. The most recent one finally introduced Shadow the Hedgehog (Keanu Reeves).
We won’t give anything away here, but Sonic 3 has already revealed the next character to join the franchise.
